Yorkshire-based stone specialist, Lapicida, has its English reclaimed stone tiles incorporated into Basildon Bond’s artisan garden at this year’s Chelsea Flower Show in London.
The Chelsea Flower Show is one of the most prestigious horticultural events in the world, and to celebrate Basildon Bond’s centenary year, the garden has been created by first-time Chelsea designer, Will Quarmby.
Will has incorporated Lapicida’s calibrated English reclaimed stone to create the paved areas in the garden and to complement other brickwork in his design. The hard landscaping forms an important part of the overall design as the path leads to the paper wall made from waterproof paper, which leads the eye over a stream through to a seating area that allows visitors to sit and pen letters to friends, family or lovers.
“Lapicida could provide me with the highest quality calibrated reclaimed stone which will saveme precious time when laying the pathway because each stone is an even size and depth. Their English reclaimed stone really suited my scheme as it blends so well with the brickwork in my design,” says Will.
The planting has been chosen to provide a calming and tranquil effect with Irises depicting pen-like fronds. The softer looking grasses will provide the perfect contrast and create eye-catching movement.
A Prunus Serrula is positioned in the centre of the garden to mirror the paper wall.
